Is Your Business Waiting for a Quake?

Does your business need shaking up?

For many people it takes sharp shocking external events, like the earth shaking under their feet to cause them to pause and refocus on the most important in their lives. For others, pending the loss of one person may have the same effect. And sometimes, the right words at the right time can lead to a sheyk reorganizes, that our thoughts and decisions we make in our lives and our work.

I am writing to you from one room hotel in San Diego as the sun slowly sets over the golf course outside my window. Everything seems nice and quiet. It was not so calmly six hours.

Southern California was rocked by the trembler, that registered 5.4 on the Richter Scale. Thankfully no major injuries and very little damage. Now for those of you who live in other parts of the world who do not have quakes, it may be difficult to imagine, but 20 seconds of the land under their feet trembling can to shake their lives in more than one way!

Since 1994 quake affected millions of people - from their homes collapse, their businesses disrupted. In Los Angeles, people were sleeping in parks for the day of their families, held close to their country as their fears over more quakes stop their return to their apartments and houses.

Business owners found their companies at risk. Some due to the damages they suffered directly. Others, as a result of customers, so life and business.

We should not wait for such extreme conditions in order to shake our business. Refreshing our assumptions, our goals and our activity is high payoff choices we have every day.

Here are some of the approaches that you can use while maintaining balance in your business.

Lever "The Breaking Point"

This past week, one of my clients have finally had enough of knots is tied act for years. She tries to make the "right" offer every potential customer. And she spent time thinking and writing a proposal in each subsequent new client.

We are talking about a new approach for two years. And her frustration feeling like she had to shoe horns appear in a new perspective of the stringent requirements finally taken a decision to this effect moves it. In 1 hour, we shifted its business model from the change of any offer to "packages.

This change in its business model works for both short term and long term. This week she called her new perspective and go back to explain the company's package elections. It will be up to the customer to choose how they want to work with it.

Ultimately, it changed its business more fundamental level. It was recovered somewhere from 2 to 10 hours of the proposal design work for each prospect, and moved to work in her packages. Now it will be paid for all of its strategic thinking and execution.

Viewed from either the short or long it has added value to the company. She's received hours of their valuable attention again on the market and build its business. And every member of the team that her meeting with new potential customers may do the same sales pitch and to offer packages so that its sales team has expanded as i.

Her sense of dissatisfaction was built under the pressure that it reaches the point of distortion. You do not need to wait for that same breaking point. You can update your business as an act of will and choice.

Use the 80/20 rule

Another client is a look at where he was spending his time. As we measured it for several weeks, we reveal what 80% of his time was spent on. He was to solve the problems of many issues, his team must learn to decide for themselves.

His habits and have meant that decisions be held up until he is ready to give the go ahead, even if it is about repeat ongoing work for clients.

He already clear that he must change his time to monitor his work highly highly capable people can be managed on a daily basis. As train its delegation and teach his team how to work together more effectively, he will have time to work on new products and mentoring, instead of doing the daily work of its business.

You may choose to wait for the shaking of the earth under their feet. Or you can get a good fed over something happens to the customer. Or you can make your business and your life. I Vote for the second choice. What about you?
